Nigel Oswald (6 October 15 AS – 19 June 2 PS) was the male tribute from District 5 in the 2nd Hunger Games. Originally from Neumann, he was 15-years-old and was studying to become a power plant employee prior to being reaped for the games.
Oswald was the twelfth tribute to die. After surviving the initial bloodbath, Oswald retreated and joined the anti-Career alliance, led by Paul Lyons of District 9. In the alliance, Oswald was seen as disposable, as he did not bring much to the group. He was killed on Day 2, when the alliance planned to raid the Career camp, but mistakenly raided the camp of Ora Elon of District 6. Elon fought back and killed Oswald in the process.
Early life[]
Oswald was born in Neumann, District 5 to parents Mikael and Luisa Oswald. Both of his parents work as at power plants. Oswald has an elder sister: Elina, and a younger brother: Hendrick.

At the reapings for the 2nd Hunger Games, Oswald was reaped for the games. As District 5 is not a district where children are eager to be reaped, there were no volunteers to take his place. The escort for District 5 was Jesibelle Jorg, while the female tribute was Neera Titan.
Opening ceremony[]
In the opening ceremony, Oswald was styled by the District 5 head stylist Kailen Stormer. As District 5's industry is power, Stormer designed a costume for her tributes inspired by nuclear energy. They placed 12th out of 12.
Training[]
In training, Oswald demonstrated little athletic ability, but trained with a sword. This earned him a training score of 3.
Games[]
