Brick Katerin (13 August 15 AS – 18 June 1 PS) was the male tribute from District 8 in the 1st Hunger Games. Originally from Helvetica, he was 14-years-old and was studying to become a textiles factory worker prior to being reaped for the games.

In the games, Katerin was the first tribute killed, and thus the first tribute to ever be killed in the history of the Hunger Games. Immediately after the games began, he rushed for the cornucopia, but was killed by Cashmere Alexander of District 1 with a dagger.

Early life

Katerin was born in Helvetica, District 8 to parents Paul and Gina Katerin, and was raised in the Danvers neighborhood. His father works in a textiles factory, while his mother is a seamstress. Katerin has an elder sister: Katrina.

Pre-games

Reaping

Katerin was reaped for the 1st Hunger Games by District 8 escort Bertrand Lilo. As District 8 isn't a district where children are eager to be reaped, there were no volunteers to take his place. The female tribute reaped for the games was Lea Tomms.

Opening ceremony

In the opening ceremony, Katerin was styled by the District 8 head stylist Schrube Dockson. As District 8's industry is textiles, Schrube designed a formalwear costume for his tributes. They placed 7th out of 12.

Training

In training, Katerin shied away from any heavy weaponry, and largely kept to himself. In his private session with the judges, he was given a score of 2. He didn't show any particular skill, but was spared from receiving a 1 due to his small size, quickness, and intelligence.

Games

In the games, Katerin was the first tribute killed, and thus the first tribute to ever be killed in the history of the Hunger Games. Immediately after the games began, he rushed for the cornucopia, but was killed by Cashmere Alexander of District 1 with a dagger. He placed 24th out of 24.
